Rakrakan Fest a real musical treat
Rock music buffs, are you ready to party? Pupil, Bamboo, Kamikazee and The Dawn are here to rock you, so be ready to catch them tonight at Dubai Festival City.

Dubai: Rock music buffs, are you ready to party? Pupil, Bamboo, Kamikazee and The Dawn are here to rock you, so be ready to catch them tonight at Dubai Festival City.
ABS-CBN Global, the largest broadcasting network in the Philippines, and its global arm The Filipino Channel are presenting Rakrakan Fest 2008, featuring some of the best rock and alternative bands from the Philippines.
This will be Pupil's debut performance in Dubai. The band members include lead vocalist Ely Buendia, lead guitarist Yan Yuson, bassist Dok Sergio and drummer Wendell Garcia.
Their biggest hits are Nasaan Ka, Dienetic and Gamu-gamo. Buendia, who was previously lead vocalist for Eraserhead, would not be drawn on whether that band's hits would be performed - so let's wait and see at the gig.
Bamboo - and especially lead vocalist Bamboo Manalac and bassist Nathan Azarcon - is very popular not only with rock fanatics, but also with teenagers.
Backed by guitarist Ira Cruz and drummer Vic Mercado, the band has popularised songs Noypi, Hallelujah and Tatsulok. The popularity of Noypi is a source of pride for all Filipinos.
And then you have Kamikazee - rock 'n' roll through and through. With their fantastic performance in last year's Rakrakan Overload in Dubai, this is surely something worth waiting for.
Lead vocalist Jay Contreras, guitarists Jomal Linao and Led Tuyay, bassist Jason Astete and drummer Allan Burdeos will definitely make you jump and scream for more.
Expect to hear great hits such as Narda and Doobidoo. Unexpectedly and unfortunately for his female fans, Contreras is planning to get married soon.
Finally, The Dawn. The hit single Salamat has made the band one of the top Pinoy rock icons in the Philippines. Credit goes to the powerful voice of Jett Pangan, lead guitarist Francis Reyes, bassist Buddy Zabala and drummer JB Leonor. Their popularity, dating back to the 1980s, has made a distinctive mark in the Philippine music industry.
It is rare that these four bands get together in one act, so this is something to look forward to.
