"We have destroyed around 90,000 DVDs including 2,000 pornographic movies, 1,000 bottles of whisky and 2,110 cans of beer at the waste landfill in Muhaisnah in the presence of government officials from different departments," said Suhail Al Awadi, Head of the General Waste Unit at the Environment Department of the municipality.
He said the goods destroyed were confiscated by the municipality inspectors during their inspection on illegal vendors in the city.
"Authorities in Dubai are taking every possible step to prevent piracy," he said.
