Dubai: A new office dedicated to issuing and renewing of passports of UAE nationals at Dubai International Airport was inaugurated on Thursday by Major-General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director of the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department.
The new office will operate 24 hours and offer all necessary procedures to issue or renew passports within minutes.
This is the third office dedicated to handling such services. Two general administration offices are in Al Jaffliyah and Abu Hail.
The centre will operate under the umbrella of the Naturalisation and Personal Affairs Sector and is supervised by the external ports section of the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD).
The centre's staff members have undergone extensive training to ensure prompt service and make the best use of the available technologies to speed up the process.
Within minutes passengers can receive their passports simply by entering the traveller's family record number.
Al Merri said the new office aims to implement DNRD's strategy of simplifying and facilitating procedures for the issuance or renewal of UAE nationals' passports.
Awareness
Colonel Ali Ganem, Assistant Manager of Naturalisation and Personal Affairs at DNRD, said that the department, to introduce the new service, has dedicated flyers to educate the public about the required procedures.
Besides payment of the necessary fees, the documents required for renewing and issuing passports include personal records, old passport and photos of the passport holder.
