More 'heroes' honoured
Meet four more people who received the Dubai Excellence Programme Award for their heroic acts of dedication and hardwork.
A productive and committed worker
Najiba Al Hosani conquered her disability and became a productive and committed worker at the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department.
The 32-year-old Emirati's achievement was recognised by the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) Awards.
"I studied at the Dubai Centre for Special Needs and obtained a bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies from UAE University. I faced many challenges in my work as a messenger, but I'm grateful to my colleagues and family who supported me and made me stand here among the winners today," Najiba said.
I didn't imagine being honoured
Nour Al Haq Ashraf, has been working as a book auditor at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department for the past 21 years. "I calculate and write the Hijri calendar, in addition to setting the prayer timings. I didn't imagine being honoured for doing my work. I am very happy," the 48-year-old Pakistani national said.
Never late for work
Ahmad Saleh, a 45-year-old Yemeni, said he was honoured for achieving 61 per cent higher revenue than his colleagues and with fewer traffic violations as a cabbie with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). He has never been late for work and never committed any mistakes. "Thank God and Shaikh Mohammad for choosing me and making me feel proud of my work," he said.
Happy to be a winner
UAE national Abdullah Mohammad Abdul Rahim, customer service coordinator in the Department of Economic Development, expressed his gratitude for being rewarded. He has a degree from the Higher Colleges of Technology and participates in local and international tournaments for people with special needs.
