Ajman: A massive fire gutted a foam factory yesterday in the new industrial area near the Sharjah-Ajman border, police said.
"Fire destroyed the furniture factory while the loss could be at millions of dirhams," said a police official. Colonel Ali Abdullah Alwan, chief of Ajman Police told Gulf News that the fire erupted at a foam factory which belongs to a known furniture company.
Colonel Alwan said that the workers managed to escape the fire. Police are questioning the manager of the factory about the cause of the fire.

"We are investigating the cause of the fire but the initial investigation shows that one of the machines in the factory broke down causing an electricity problem that might have led to the fire," he said. "The losses are very huge but no one has been injured in the fire except one of the workers who inhaled some smoke while running away ... He is doing well now," Colonel Alwan said.
Firefighters, rescue teams and a military force from Ajman, Dubai, Sharjah and other emirates helped tackle the blaze. The fire lasted for a few hours till firefighters were able to put it off.
