The land has been allotted in the Mezyad district and the foundation stone of the new church building will be laid today in a ceremony, said K. M. Johnson, the Vicar of the church.
The Marthoma community has been living in the oasis city for more than three decades.
"We are very happy and thank full to the government," he said, adding that the community will continue to play its role in the country's development.
The community has formed different committees under the leadership of K. M. Johnson for carrying out the construction activities and related services.
The church building will be a complex, housing a praying area, parsonage, and a conference hall. A construction plan has already been finalised. The consultancy of the project is done by Shankland Cox and the construction has been awarded to NAEL General Contracting Company.
