Lose weight, lose waste

Joining a gym would give you the options to use different exercising machines, but that would cost you around Dh400 a month.
Instead use your home - objects around the house could come in handy such as filling used water bottles with sand and using them as dumbbells or a skipping rope to jog in one spot. If you want to get a little more professional, there are machines such as spinning bikes and rowing machines that power up from your workout. You could get even more eco-friendly and go running outside.
Nothing beats the old-fashioned way of exercising by using the running track around Al Safa Park in Dubai or along the Abu Dhabi Corniche. It is also a good place to meet people and socialise.
Jogging for one hour will save 1,500 watts from using the treadmill, which is enough to light up a room for 15 hours.
If it is too hot outside, Rem Sanchez, an assistant fitness manager, recommends mall walking – a growing phenomenon in the UAE.
He said: "It is a great alternative to the treadmill and a good way to burn calories."
