Widen sports coverage
I arrived in the UAE four years ago and have been reading Gulf News regularly for three years now. What attracted me the most was the quality of the contents of the reports as well as the graphics that are used.
My favourite sections are the Nation, Sport and the comic strips. I like reading news about Dubai as well as what's happening in the soccer world. However, there is not enough news about hockey and basketball.
There are a lot of people who are interested in those sports and it would be nice to have some more in-depths about the NBA and the hockey league.
Otherwise, Gulf News is one of the best newspapers and the reports are very well-written.

Wider distribution
I have been reading Gulf News for the last four and a half years. It is a good newspaper with crisp and brief reports. The quality of the reports is very high, especially the Business section.
I enjoy reading the reports about management but I think that there should be wider local participation because it feels as though many of them have been taken from international reports.
Also, Gulf News should have a wider geographic distribution of the newspaper because there are some areas that are unable to receive it or receive it late.

More viewpoints
I have been living in the UAE for 15 years and enjoy reading Gulf News, especially reports about real estate and the stock markets in the Business section.
While Gulf News is a good newspaper, it would be more enjoyable if more focus was given to what is happening in the UAE. If the writer pool in the newspaper were expanded, there would be a wider variety of viewpoints.
That would be interesting, especially in the Opinion pages where contributors from different fields could provide their opinions on different subjects.

Social issues
Gulf News has been my life-long companion throughout my years in the UAE. I enjoy going through the reports and find that their quality is unmatched by other publications.
I enjoy going through the Letters to the Editor section because it keeps me up to date and I can relate to the issues being discussed. Also, I like casting my vote in the polls that are posted on the website and going through the Ask the Law section because the answers are very helpful.
However, I think there should be more coverage dedicated to Pakistan because there are many events happening and at the moment there is only a half-page of reports available. Also, I think that tabloid! should not focus so much on the lives of celebrities because it is unnecessary.
It would be better if more positive social reports were published that highlight various issues and happenings around the world.

Future contributor
I have only been in the UAE for about two months but was drawn to the coverage that was provided in Gulf News on a variety of events. I read all the sections in the newspaper and feel that the reports are well-rounded as everything is covered by Gulf News.
I visited the website and found it to be user-friendly. However, the Ask the Law section of the website should be updated as whenever I click on it, the questions and responses are all dated from 2007.
One of my favourite sections is Opinion, and it was what attracted me to sign up for the Gulf News Readers Club. I hope that I can contribute to that section in the near future.

Commute companion
I have been an avid reader of Gulf News since I first came to the UAE eight years ago. What attracted me was the level of freedom and independency that is displayed in the newspaper.
I try to browse through the different sections as much while commuting to and from work as it helps me keep up to date with what is happening around me. However, I am not a very big fan of tabloid! or the classifieds and properties supplements.
I leave those at home when I go to work because I feel that it is a burden to be carrying such a heavy load around. But other than that, I feel that Gulf News is a very good newspaper and I enjoy reading it daily.

Fresh food
I thank Gulf News for the article on organic farming in Abu Dhabi ("Abu Dhabi organic farm wins global recognition," Gulf News, February 20)).
For the first time, I was able to buy locally grown organic fruits and vegetables from a hypermarket in the Capital.
I was delighted! The produce was fresh, as it did not travel thousands of miles to get here, and tasted really good. The best part - it was not expensive.
