Islamic scholar talks about the ‘Path to Salvation’ at the 11th Ramadan Forum
Dubai: Some 25 Filipinas converted to Islam after attending the 11th Ramadan Forum where an eminent Islamic scholar from the Philippines delivered a lecture inviting Muslims and non-Muslims to the “path to salvation.”
Islamic scholar Omar Penalber discussed the various criteria for salvation that the world has today in a lecture titled ‘A Breeze of Mercy,’ organised by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
Penalber said: “Reflect on yourself whether your religion is one of the criteria. If not please seek the truth.”
This truth, he said, can be found in the verses of the Quran which state that Islam is the religion of all the prophets and the only religion that is acceptable in the sight of Almighty “Allah”.
Penalber emphasised the oneness of Allah and discussed the Articles of Faith and the five pillars of Islam. He entertained various questions from the audience, and 25 Filipinas decided to profess their faith in Islam.
He also called on everyone not to judge Islam by how some Muslims are being portrayed in the media.
“Judge Islam by what it teaches and surely you will attain the true meaning of life, success, happiness and peaceful living in this world and the hereafter. As long as we are strong, don’t hesitate to seek the truth, because the truth will set you free,” Penalber said.
The Philippines was a predominantly Muslim country before the Spaniards colonised it in 1521.
