Abu Dhabi: "I feel very happy and secure to be here in the UAE," said Huda Ghalia, 12, surrounded by family members and members of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, at Abu Dhabi Airport on Wednesday night.

Appearing somewhat drawn and nervous, Huda arrived in Abu Dhabi from Cairo, accompanied by her mother Hameeda, her Aunt Mariam and sisters, Latifa, seven, and Hadeel, eight, after travelling from their home in the northern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian Consul, Fayez Al Mutawa, indicated the family would travel directly to the Shaikh Zayed Military Hospital, where they would receive psychological support and treatment, and thanked the UAE for their ongoing support to the Palestinian people.

"I hope now people will not just talk about what is going on in our home, but also do something. Our children are suffocated by fear everyday. Huda is very strong and has seen a lot. The difference was that the whole world saw it as well," said Hameeda.

The family is due to be received by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister, in the coming few days.

"I would like to thank Shaikh Hamdan. I would really just like to continue my education and return to Gaza. I love Gaza. I know my father would tell me to be strong, and I know that I will meet him again in heaven," Huda said.
