Abu Dhabi: Hundreds of residents of a 19-storey building behind Hamdan Street have been living in stressful conditions due to faulty air conditioning, Gulf News has learnt.

"This is the worst time for such a situation, as many of us are fasting," a long-time resident, who wanted to remain unnamed, told Gulf News. The air conditioning has not been working well for four days.

The building is over 15 years old. A shop owner in the building said his business has been affected badly. "We are all fasting and ... such delays in getting repairs done cannot be tolerated," he added.

The building watchman said repairs are already under way. The building manager could not be reached for comment.

Another long-time resident told Gulf News the AC is not the only problem they face. "One of the two lifts in the building has been out of order for a few months. We are forced to use the stairs at times," adding that families with children suffer the most.
