Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, yesterday honoured the directors of Dubai Police's departments and stations for receiving the ISO 9001:2000 certificate.
Dubai Police's general departments and police stations received the ISO 9001:2000 certificate for the services they provide to internal and external customers.
Dubai Police celebrated the occasion at Dubai Police's General Headquarters. Shaikh Hamdan also honoured police officers who have completed 25 years of work for Dubai Police.
"Dubai Police has been able to implement the international quality standards for ISO 9001:2000 in all 29 police departments and stations.
"Dubai Police became one of the first police bodies in the world to have implemented quality standards in all its departments and stations," said Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police.
Crime rates
Lieutenant General Dahi said Dubai Police has managed to confine crime rates and also cracked down on many international criminals such as, the gang which robbed Damas Jewellery and the armed gang which robbed Graff jewellery at Wafi City.
He said Dubai Police also cracked down on drug traffickers and peddlers and revealed many organised crimes and international gangs, which police forces in the US and Europe could not uncover.
"Dubai Police also confined money laundering crimes which reached more than Dh70 billion in two years," Lieutenant General Dahi said.
He said institutional excellence does not come through one initiative, but through a comprehensive organisation of administrative and creative structures.
Brigadier Dr Abdul Qudoos Abdul Razaq, Director of Dubai Police's Total Quality Department and Head of the ISO project team, said Dubai Police's commitment to implement international quality standards, especially regarding customer services made the process of getting ISO easier.
