Four arrested for trying to sell girl for Dh10,500
Police have arrested four members of an Asian gang who were intent on selling a woman into prostitution for Dh10,500.
Dubai: Police have arrested four members of an Asian gang who were intent on selling a woman into prostitution for Dh10,500.
Dubai's Criminal Investigation Department [CID] received a tip off on January 26 that two men, A.S., and A.G. intended to sell an Asian woman.
The CID section to combat human trafficking formed a team to arrest the suspects in a sting operation.
On January 28, one of the CID sources agreed with the suspects to buy the woman. The police source met with the suspects and gave them Dh500 as an advance until the deal was done.
At 7.30pm the same day, the first suspect A.S. went to Al Baraha with the woman who was carrying her belongings. The suspect asked her to get in the car. When the operation was completed, the suspect was arrested.
Police then raided the residence of the suspect in a building in Al Baraha , the second suspect and other gang members, identified as M.N. and Z.B. were arrested.
The four suspects confessed to bringing the victim into the UAE on a visit visa to sell her into prostitution. They also confessed to committing human trafficking crimes and running brothels.
They were referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of human trafficking, one of them was charged with aiding and abetting the crime.
