Event to boost filmmakers in the Gulf, says official
The Gulf Film Festival marks a new era in cinema making in this part of the world, said the organisers.
Dubai: The Gulf Film Festival marks a new era in cinema making in this part of the world, said the organisers.
Masoud Amralla Al Ali, GFF director, said that the festival will serve as a platform to promote local and regional talents and thus enhance the culture of cinema in the Gulf.
The festival will take place from April 13 to 18 at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre in the Mall of the Emirates. "People in the Gulf region are misrepresented in many ways and filmmaking is the most powerful medium to represent yourself to the other and I believe that this film festival will give an opportunity to filmmakers in the region to themselves highlight their reality," said Al Ali.
GFF is the first film festival dedicated to filmmaking in the GCC region where 93 films from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq and Yemen, will participate in the different categories of the competition.
