Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Foundation announced grants of up to Dh250,000 to fund projects that highlight the issues of neglect, physical, sexual and psychological abuse against children in the UAE.
The aim of the 'Family Challenges' grant competition is to strengthen the presence and role of organisations that seek to build the nation's ability to work with children who are under threat from, or are suffering from, abuse.
The grants will fund proposals to expand an existing project, launch and run a new programme, mount a workshop, or offer a training course that deals directly with child abuse issues.
Successful candidates will receive up to Dh250,000, spread over a maximum of two years. The competition is open to any organisation, licensed through a Federal Ministry, that are working on family and children's projects within the UAE.
Applicants are invited to send a cover letter describing their credentials and a two-page proposal summary with a budget outline to: social@emiratesfoundation.ae.
For detailed information on what the proposal should include, enquirers should check the Emirates Foundation website, under ‘grants and scholarships': www.emiratesfoundation.ae
The closing date for initial applications is August 30, 2009
Short listed applicants will be contacted and asked to complete a detailed Emirates Foundation Grant Application Form.
