Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati man has been reported missing in Turkey for the past nine days and efforts to trace him have so far proved fruitless.
Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has now stepped in to help the missing man’s family.
Jasem Ali Al Shehi, 33, left the Istanbul hotel room he was staying in on August 25 and has not been seen since. His family lost all communication with Al Shehi on that date and alerted the UAE Embassy in Turkey 24 hours later.
His family also reported the incident to Shaikh Abdullah via his Twitter account. Shaikh Abdullah responded quickly to their plea, according to family members.
“Shaikh Abudullah immediately followed up the case with the UAE embassy in Turkey and our family in Ras Al Khaimah,” his brother Malek Al Shehi said.
Jasem went alone to Turkey for a medical check-up on August 18 and was supposed to spend only a few days there and then return to the UAE.
He phoned his family on a daily basis but communication with Jasem ceased on August 25, his brother said.
“Authorities from both sides are working together to trace and find Jasem. But so far there has been no information,” his brother said.
