Dubai: Dubai-based explorer Adrian Hayes has entered the record books for a second time, after reaching the final destination of a historic crossing of Greenland.

Hayes and his team - Devon McDiarmid and Derek Crowe - reached Qaanaq after travelling for 67 days and covering 4,262km.

Their route from the southern to northern tips of the Greenland ice cap and then west using kites had never been attempted before.

It is also the longest unassisted Arctic expedition. UAE-based, British explorer Hayes is already in the Guinness World Records for being the fastest person in history and only the 15th ever to reach the North Pole, South Pole and the Everest.

The team had to overcome many challenges which included wading through freezing glacial waters, crevasses, battling fierce head winds the whole way and hauling sleds for 14 hours in treacherous conditions.

"It's been a really difficult and challenging expedition, particularly mentally. We have never been able to take anything for granted and have had so many unexpected things descend on us throughout... But the sights we have seen were completely awe inspiring," Hayes said.
