Dubai: Blindsight, a documentary about the journey of six visually impaired children from "Braille without Borders" who attempt to climb Lhakpa Ri, a 23,000 feet high peak next to Mount Everest, is to be shown at a special charity screening in Dubai.

The film will be shown on Monday, December 15 at Cinestar in the Mall of the Emirates. Cinema goers will be asked to make a donation to attend and all the proceeds will be given to Braille without Borders and local vision non-profit organisation Foresight.

The film, globally acclaimed, documents the journey of Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg, founders of Braille without Borders, and six of their blind students as they joined blind mountain climber, Erik Weihenmayer, in an attempt to summit Lhakpa Ri, the 23,000 foot peak which rises spectacularly beside Mount Everest.

Tenberken, winner of the 2006 Mother Theresa Award, was fascinated with the study of Tibetan culture as a young blind German and created the first Braille text for the Tibetan language.
