Ras Al Khaimah: A dentist who was fined several times before, is once again in the dock after he pulled out teeth of a patient for an orthodontic treatment, for which he is not licensed.
The Syrian dentist, identified only as M.N., was fined Dh5,000 by the Misdemeanour Court which also gave the right to the Emirati patient to sue the dentist in a civil court for the loss of his three front teeth.
A court official said the dentist had earlier been fined by various courts following complaints from other patients.
According to him, the patient had approached the dentist seeking treatment. The dentist extracted three front teeth, claiming it was part of the treatment.
Later the patient went to a public dental clinic and dentists there said the extraction was unnecessary and did not do any good.
