Dalai Lama endorses Everest film
The Dalai Lama gave his support to a documentary aimed at bridging religious barriers, according to international climbing organization, the Everest Peace Project (EEP).
Dubai: The Dalai Lama gave his support to a documentary aimed at bridging religious barriers, according to international climbing organization, the Everest Peace Project (EEP).
In a letter of support to the EEP he said, "I am always impressed when, in addition to words of support, people actually undergo some physical hardship to further the cause of peace."
EPP had organisd a climb up Everest earlier this year, which involved UAE-based climber Ali Bushnaq and eight other professional climbers from around the world. Bushnaq had to abort the climb after suffering from pneumonia.
“The Everest Peace Project's film Everest: A Climb for Peace is a tremendous achievement from several points of view," the Dalai Lama said.
"Not only does it document a spectacular climb of the world's tallest mountain, but it also shows how the project brought together people from different faiths and cultures, who worked successfully as a team to accomplish their goal,'' he said.
The endorsed documentary is produced by award winning film maker Billy Marchese of Dezart Cinematic and will be shown be shown across the globe.
