Cockroach in pizza leaves a bad taste in the mouth
A bank worker got an unpleasant surprise on Sunday when he found a cockroach underneath the last slice of his take-away pizza.
Dubai: A bank worker got an unpleasant surprise on Sunday when he found a cockroach underneath the last slice of his take-away pizza.
The man and his colleagues are now concerned over the safety of fast food.
The news comes just one month after a sandwich bakery in Abu Dhabi was ordered to clean up its premises by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, which is taking legal action against that outlet.
H.S., a bank worker who ordered the pizza delivery, said: "We had eaten almost all of the pizza. When we picked up the last slice, the cockroach was underneath. I would like them to take much better precautions, they can't deliver free cockroaches. It is disgusting and I won't be ordering from there again."
HS claimed he tried to complain to the pizza delivery chain, but he was kept on hold for almost half an hour.
H.S. and his colleagues used to order from the outlet four or five times a month.
The line manager of the pizza outlet in Karama later visited H.S.'s office after H.S. complained locally and granted a refund for the order.
H.S. said the manager "apologised a lot" and also claimed that disciplinary action might be taken against the chef.
The fast food chain indicated they would not issue a statement until a complaint had been lodged with the public health section of Dubai Municipality.
Complaints: Get help
An official from Dubai Munici-pality said people can complain about the quality of fast food by calling the municipality's complaint number, 04 223 2323
