Dubai: An information evening for trekkers planning to hike in Nepal later this year is going to be held this week.
The hike is part of a Gulf for Good challenge to raise money for children in need. Participants and anyone with an interest to join the group is welcome to attend the informal meeting to meet fellow hikers and organisers.
The Annapurna challenge will take a team on an 11-day tour that will cover 120 kilometres through the Himalayan Annapurna range. It will require training, stamina and perseverance.
Trekkers will camp in magnificent mountain scenery including the huge ice pyramid Dhaulagiri and Machhupuchhare.
Participants have to raise at least Dh19,000 which includes flights, accommodation, meals and a majority of it will go to the New Youth Children's Development Society to build an orphanage in Budhanil Kant in Nepal.
The information evening will be held on July 7 at the house of Gulf for Good governor and business coach, Tricia Evans. Directions will be given on request. Information on other future challenges will be available.
By taking part in the Gulf for Good adventure, participants raise funds that are donated to chosen children's charities in the areas where the challenges take place. The charity challenges are a mixture of moderate to extreme hiking or cycling trips.
