Dubai: Huda Ghalia will never forget Friday June 9, 2006 the day that eight members of her family were killed on a Gaza beach, as they were enjoying a picnic to celebrate the end of the school year.
Artillery shells were reportedly fired from an Israeli gunboat stationed off the northern Gaza coast killing her father Ali, stepmother Ra'eesha, brother Haitham, 1, and sisters Hanadi, 2, Sabrin, 4, Ilham, 15, and Alia, 17.
"We are very happy to be welcoming Huda and her family here to the UAE, and are actively involved in organising their stay here," said the UAE Red Crescent Authority's Head of Media, Ahmad Al Ali.
Al Ali said Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, had previously initiated many similar gestures.
