Cannons in place to announce iftar timings
Police have completed preparations for four Ramadan cannons which will be placed in various areas to announce iftar timings.
Dubai: Police have completed preparations for four Ramadan cannons which will be placed in various areas to announce iftar timings.
Captain Abdullah Bin Mussabih, Head of the Arms and Ammunition Section at the police's Services and Preparations Department, said Dubai Police have used cannons since the 1960s and were keen to preserve this tradition. He said two cannons will be in Deira and two in Bur Dubai, two others will be kept in reserve. A team of 20 people have been assigned to operate the cannons, five at each location
