Dubai: A 25-year-old British man who went missing over a week ago is in critical condition at Rashid Hospital's intensive care unit (ICU), Gulf News has learnt.

Stephen McKeown, from Middlesborough in England, was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident on Friday, December 5.

Feda Al Sari, Senior Staff Nurse at Rashid Hospital's ICU, said Stephen was on a ventilator and remains under sedation. He has been in hospital for over a week.

She said: "Stephen was admitted to ward nine (ICU) on Saturday, December 6 after being involved in a serious road traffic accident. He has a facial bone fracture and bilateral lung contusion. He also suffered a brain haematoma but a scan has showed this not to be too serious. He has also sustained injuries to both hands."

Stephen was last seen leaving Satwa's Rydges Plaza hotel at around 9.30pm.

CCTV footage showed him leaving the hotel and walking in the direction of Satwa roundabout. It is unclear where the incident that led to Stephen's hospitalisation took place.
