Dubai: Top Bollywood stars are set to raise the roof in Sharjah for a long-awaited show which had earlier been cancelled twice.
The glamorous Kareena Kapoor and dashing Saif Ali Khan are set to dazzle audiences with a spectacular dance and music extravaganza, Jashn 2008, at the Sharjah Cricket stadium tonight.
Kareena was extremely quiet, timid and shy and passed on the questions from journalists to her boyfriend, Saif. Both came across as they wished they were somewhere else than the press conference. They were polite, but their replies were sluggish.
The duo, who have featured in gossip rags as being romantically involved both on and off camera, said they were looking forward to performing in the UAE for their fans.
"We are looking forward to the show tonight," said Saif. "As always there is a crisis somewhere in the world, and there's always a reason to be happy. We have come here to try and make people smile," he said.
The star said the 'most beautiful lady from our country' will dress up and dance. "I will attempt to do the same but in very different clothes. Maybe that will change the world, or maybe it will just bring a smile [to people's faces]," said Saif.
Also performing at the star-studded event will be the gorgeous actress Minnisha Lamba, who was also present at the press conference at Dubai Festival City's Intercontinental Hotel.
The show will be complimented with the renowned choreographer Ganesh Hegde's troupe which will perform alongside the three stars and comedian Kashif Khan who will host the show, ensuring a laughter riot for the audience.
Kareena made her film debut in 2000 with 'Refugee' along with the debut of Amitabh Bachchan's son, Abhishek. She went on to appear in 31 other Hindi movies and is one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood.
Khan is an award-winning Indian actor who has starred in numerous Bollywood films and picked up the coveted National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in hit film Hum Tum in 2004.
Tickets, priced from Dh50-Dh1,000, are available at Sind Punjab, Spinneys, Choithram, Pak Gazi, Al Mansour Video and Avenue outlets.
Gates open at 5.30pm and the main event will begin at 8.30pm.
The event is to launch Marina Waves properties. Neither Kareena nor Saif own property in Dubai and have no plans to own any property here.
