Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Health (MoH) is collaborating with the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to provide health services in Palestine in light of the situation in Gaza.
The gesture is in line with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the MoH Executive Director for Medical Practice and Licensing, Dr Ameen Hussain Al Amiri, who is also head of the UAE National Blood Transfusion Committee, has started collaborating with Palestinian Ministry of Health officials to assess the need for blood transfusion services in the devastated Gaza Strip.
He said more than 140 donors in Sharjah had donated blood so far in a campaign organised at the Khalid Lake area, in collaboration with the Sharjah-branch of the RCA and Sharjah Police. He said his outfit would soon identify other spots throughout the country in addition to the official donation centres nationwide to boost the blood donation campaign.
