- Emirati girls with ambitions of flying have the opportunity to talk to experts in aviation on the career day being held today.
Al Ain: Emirati girls with an ambition to fly can obtain first-hand information from aviation experts at a high school today to answer their questions.
The event, career day, is being organised by Al Mureijib High School for Girls in Al Ain with the support of Horizon International Flight Academy (HIFA).
A number of experts from the academy will be available from 10am to 5pm, said a spokesperson of the HIFA.
She said the event is part of the HIFA's outreach programme to raise awareness about the job opportunities available in the aerospace industry.
Owned by Mubadala Development Company, the HIFA is a flight training organisation in the Middle East.
Mohammad Humaidan Al Za'abi, General Manager of the HIFA, said the academy encourages more females to take up a career in aviation.
Horizon enrolled the first Emirati female student in its pilot training course in 2007.
Only academy
"Today we have ten female students studying to become pilots at Horizon each pursuing a long term career in the burgeoning aviation sector," he added.
Horizon is the only academy in the region offering a Higher Diploma in Aviation Business Administration which is open to all.
This course is ideal for pilots who hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) as it supports their flying credentials with professional qualifications.
It is especially valuable to those women who later want to move from flying to management, Al Za'abi explained.
Other training programmes offered at Horizon include the Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), Instrument Rating (IR) and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) amongst others.
Horizon is ISO 9001: 2008 certified and is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education to offer Higher Diploma alongside its licence programmes.
