Alliance Francaise stresses ties with UAE on 25th anniversary
The Alliance Francaise in Dubai has expressed its aim to continue strengthening ties between France and the UAE.
Dubai: The Alliance Francaise in Dubai has expressed its aim to continue strengthening ties between France and the UAE.
There are approximately 5,000 French expatriates living in Dubai, and around 10,000 throughout the UAE. The Alliance is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Dubai this year, and held a gala dinner on Tuesday.
Philippe Nicaise, Director of the Alliance Française in Dubai, said at the dinner: "The main aim of the Alliance is to join the cultures of the two countries - France and [the UAE]. We do this with language of course, that's why in the Alliance Francaise we teach French but also Arabic. Also, we focus on culture."

Emirati artist Jasem Al Awadi exhibited local photography at the event, along with images from the Photographic Club at Sharjah University. French photographer Anne De Henning also exhibited works called the 'Bridges of Paris'.
Hussain Al Jaziri, President of the Alliance Francaise in Dubai, stressed the importance of the French Business Council in Dubai.
Patrice Paoli, French Ambassador to the UAE, Nada Yafi, Consul General of France in Dubai, and Mohammad Al Murr, Chairman of the Dubai Cultural Council, also attended.
