Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Municipality yesterday called on all property management companies to register with the municipal Tawtheeq system, a recently launched project for registering leasable properties and lease contracts in the city.

The first workshop was held yesterday to familiarise property management executives with the new system, which was introduced in March, the municipality said.

Ali Al Hashemi, manager of Tawtheeq at the municipality, called on companies that had not yet signed up to register for the new initiative.

Coherent, effective

"Tawtheeq aims to offer a coherent, effective and integrated information system for all rele-vant government entities, as well as streamline the tenancy contract attest-ation process in Abu Dhabi. Ensuring an effective system will help safeguard the rights of landlords and tenants as well as standardize the process of attesting tenancy contracts," he added.

The municipality also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties (ADCP) that registered ADCP's 55,000 property units with Tawtheeq, and is currently in the process of signing more MoUs with other property management companies.

During the launch of Tawtheeq last month, the municipality announced that property management firms in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain had to register their leasable properties and existing lease contracts by June 30, while individual owners will have until September 30.
