60 workers evacuated from a burning tower in Dubai

Firefighters safely evacuated 60 workers from a burning tower which was under construction, civil defense officers said on Tuesday.

Dubai: Firefighters safely evacuated 60 workers from a burning tower that was under construction, Civil Defence offcials said on Tuesday.

The fire was put out around 10pm on Tuesday and the workers, who had run up to the top floors when the fire broke out, were rescued.

The tower is behind the Metropolitan Hotel.

Most of the workers were out of the building as the fire broke out when the shift changed.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

Senior officials from the Civil Defence and police were at the site of the fire.
