Dubai: Runners and non-athletes alike can take to the steps of the Jumeirah Emirates Towers to raise cash for charity for the annual vertical marathon in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières.
Participants have to make it up more than 50 storeys on foot on May 28.
The marathon consists of a 52-floor, 1334-stair climb; 265 metres up the Emirates Towers office tower. Registration will take place in the Emirates Towers Godolphin Ballroom at 6.30am and the race will start from inside the ballroom with a brief run to the office tower entrance after which each participant will proceed up the stairs.
For safety reasons, only 200 individuals can participate in the event. Each participant must donate a minimum of Dh500 entry fee. The competitive race will be open to both teams and individuals and will be timed. A non-competitive race will be open to both teams and individuals and will be timed as well.
Registration will close at 7.30am. The marathon will begin at 8am, followed at 10am by the presentation of awards, a raffle and a brunch to conclude the morning.
