The Filipino community organisations in Abu Dhabi have already sent Dh20,000 for disaster victims in Philippines.
Abu Dhabi: Filipinos in the capital are happy to see the support received from other communities to help flood victims back home.
"Many individuals and companies from other communities contributed to our collection drive in the capital," Earl Palacios, vice-president of the University of Philippines Alumni Association's Abu Dhabi chapter, said.
The Filipino community organisations in Abu Dhabi have already sent Dh20,000 to the Department of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippine Government to assist the victims, Noel Servogon, Charge d'Affaires at the Philippine Embassy, said.
He said a walkathon held in Dubai was a great success and the embassy plans such a mass event in the capital to raise funds for the flood victims.
"We will seek the permission from authorities to conduct it," he concluded.
