Al Ain: Residents across the UAE felt the aftershocks of a 4.3 Richter Scale earthquake which hit Iran early Friday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was somewhere between the Iranian island of Qishm and the port city of Bandar Abbas, according to the US Geological Survey USGS. It was located 10 kilometres deep in the earth,

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) confirmed the tremors , saying its seismic network had recorded the aftershocks at 7:36am.

Akhlaque Ahmed, a resident of Ajman, emailed Gulf News, saying that he felt the tremors for a few seconds and again after two minutes.

A resident in Al Ghusais, Dubai, said though her bed is heavy, she felt it move. “I was sleeping at the time, but I knew it was a tremor,'' she said, having earlier experienced earthquakes in Jordon.

Dozens of aftershocks have hit the area since September 10 when a powerful 6.2 magnitude quake struck some 43km in the west of Qishm Island. People across the emirates had then panicked and evacuated their buildings.
