Dubai: The mercury will be stuck at 45.4 degrees Celsius for the next few days, nearly four degrees more than the average temperature recorded in July, according to the Dubai met office.
The average temperature recorded in July over the years was 40.8 degrees Celsius, said Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster. "Even the minimum temperature has shot up nearly four degrees, making the nights warmer. There will be no respite till coming Saturday," he said.
There is a dry spell at the moment with humidity at 15 per cent. The Comfort Index was four on Tuesday, still at 'uncomfortable'. On Monday it had shot up to 6. The index is graded from 'comfortable' to 'high stress'. The higher the humidity, the higher the stress level.
There was not much change on Wednesday at the Minhad Air Base in the desert, with the temperature at 50 degrees Celsius. The temperature recorded is not the ground temperature, but the atmospheric temperature.
Light south-easterly winds with speed of 8 to 10 knots on Wednesday kicked up a dust haze in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, cooling down the two cities to a more bearable 41 degrees Celsius.
