Sharjah/ Ras Al Khaimah: Sharjah Municipality has set up an emergency committee to monitor the heavy rain.

The committee is cooperating with police, receiving reports about any incident or traffic accident. Civic authorities on Tuesday said they are working round the clock to ease water build-up.

Abdul Aziz Al Mansouri, Deputy Manager of the drainage department at Sharjah Municipality, said that the committee distributed 152 diesel pumps and 104 tankers to roundabouts and main roads affected by the flooding.

The works and general services Department in Ras Al Khaimah also deployed vehicles to pump water. An official said the department did not receive any help from private construction companies, despite several requests.

Fujairah: Situation manageable

Mohammad Said Al Afkham, Deputy Director of Fujairah Municipality, said the situation has been manageable because the rainfall has not been so heavy. "We're relying on members of the public to inform us of any required assistance by calling the toll-free number 800-36222".
