Al Ain/Dubai/Fujairah: Partly cloudy conditions will continue to dominate much of the country with chances of light rain in some areas, say weathermen.

Conditions could get cloudy at times in some areas within the next 48 hours and today could mostly be cloudy with a few spots of rain, according to the Dubai meteorological office.

"The weather is nothing much to write about," said David Vorster, duty forecaster, adding that the conditions are normal for this time of the year.

The cloudy conditions are due to a jet stream north of the UAE and moist air being pushed here from the west, according to the forecaster.

The temperature will drop slightly tomorrow because of the Shammal winds. An atmospheric low pressure system is, however, heading from the upper Gulf area towards the UAE.

This low pressure system was hovering over the sea yesterday between Kuwait and Bahrain.

Coastal areas

Weathermen said this system could cause rain in the UAE coastal areas if it moves over the UAE. However, it is expected to be pushed by winds over Iran.

According to a forecast by the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), light rain may hit some places especially in the northern areas.

Conditions will remain cold in general.

Winds could get stronger at times and seas will be very rough with waves as high as six to nine feet offshore. Weathermen have also warned fishermen and joyriders to stay away from the sea.
