Recycling of construction waste being studied
The study will definitely contribute to finding solutions and ways of using the outcomes of the recycled dust in different construction sites.

This is really great as more contractors would be able to attempt LEED Certification all in hopes of making the UAE more Lean and Green. (Recycling dust will allow for the LEED prerequisite of Construction Activity Pollution Prevention to be met, as well as the Materials and Resources Construction Waste Management to be attempted).

Dubai: The Dubai Central Laboratory has signed an agreement with the Emirates Recycling Company to conduct a study for examining and evaluating dust resulting from recycling construction waste and the possibility of using the recycled product.
The agreement comes in line with the Dubai Municipality's keenness to protect the environment by recycling construction waste.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Engineer Abdullah Mohammad Rafei, acting Assistant to Director General for the Environment Control, Health and Safety Sector at the Dubai Municipality, Hassan Makki, Director of Waste Management and Hawa Abdullah Bastaki, Director of the laboratory, and Nil Roberts, Executive Director of the company, and other officials.
Rafei highlighted the importance of the study on recycling dust resulting from construction waste in protecting environment.
The seven-month study will be conducted under the supervision of a technical team of representatives from the municipality and contracting and construction companies.
The study will definitely contribute to finding solutions and ways of using the outcomes of the recycled dust in different construction sites, Rafei said.
He stressed the necessity to reconsider the standards of building materials on the outcome of the result of the study.
Roberts thanked the municipality and praised the major role the laboratory plays in monitoring and controlling the quality of building materials. The study involves examining samples from the recycled dust and conducting various physical, mechanical and chemical tests, said Hawa.
