All over Scotland, residents have come together to tackle the threat of global warming and preserve the planet for future generations.

Six months have passed since The Scotsman, a newspaper, and the Scottish government launched the "Let's Go Green Together" campaign.

Over 3,000 people have opted to lead a greener lifestyle, recycling more, using energy-efficient light bulbs, buying seasonal and unpackaged produce and driving less.

If they leave their car at home one day a week, that is a 20 per cent reduction. Over a year, that adds up to a lot.

Additionally, many residents have decided to stop using environmentally unfriendly diesel generators for their power. Instead, they will be getting energy from renewable sources.

The country plans to slash the damaging greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent, by 2050.

The Scotsman changed the colour of its masthead to green for one day, in the beginning of 2008. This was meant to encourage its readers to go green, too.
