Al Ain: The jolts that shook Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and some other parts of the emirates on Wednesday were caused by a powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale that struck the south-west part of the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.
The epicentre of the quake was 43 kilometres west of the Qeshm Island in the Arabian Gulf and some 135 kilometres north of Ras Al Khaimah.
