Dubai: One person was killed and 13 people were injured in road accidents on Saturday morning as a result of fog.
The person was killed after a car overturned on Doha Road. Five people were injured. Four people were injured after 13 vehicles piled up on Emirates Road around 7.30am. In another accident, three people were injured in Al Muhaisnah.
Several motorists were stuck in bottlenecks as a result of foggy conditions and dozens of accidents.
A motorist coming from Sharjah to Dubai said: "On Saturdays usually, there is no heavy traffic and I reach my office in Jebel Ali in 30 to 45 minutes. But today ... I reached the office after one and a half hours."
Another motorist said she left for her office at 7am and arrived at about 8.30am.
"There was a pile-up of cars and trucks on Emirates Road and everyone was moving slowly ... the visibility was really low," she said.
