Dubai: It will be very humid and uncomfortable on Saturday, but the good news is that the maximum temperature will not go above 40 degrees Celsius over the next three days, according to the Dubai Meteorological Office.
"I won't be surprised if it touches seven on the Comfort Index on Saturday," said Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster.
"It will be very uncomfortable." The Index is graded from Comfortable to High Stress and the higher the humidity the higher the stress level.
The South-West Monsoon in India will bring moisture here and it will be very uncomfortable and very humid, even in the evenings, he said.
North-westerly winds meanwhile, are pushing a dust storm over Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait towards the UAE and the drop in temperature will create foggy conditions early today.
Fog occurs because of a drop in temperature and because moisture is trapped inland.
It will be foggy in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain but Dubai will get only patches of fog early today.
"There is no chance of clear skies. Satellite pictures show dust haze offshore from the UAE and it is drifting inland," said Gupta.
The north-westerly winds of between 10 to 14 knots (26 km/h) helped reduce the temperature nine degrees yesterday to 38C from Thursday's scorching 47C in Dubai. The humidity also dropped from 90 per cent early Thursday to 55 per cent yesterday.
Sharjah was blazing hot on Thursday as the maximum hit 47.9C. The maximum dropped to 41.6C on Friday and the minimum was 28.6C. The humidity hovered around 89 per cent.
According to the Sharjah weather bureau, there will be no change in the temperature on Saturday.
