Hot and humid weather to prevail, say forecasters

Weathermen say conditions will remain hot and high humidity will prevail during the afternoons throughout different cities in the UAE for the next two days.

Al Ain: Weathermen say conditions will remain hot and high, humidity will prevail during the afternoons throughout different cities in the UAE for the next two days.

"Hot weather will prevail in general, becoming hazy at times during the daytime," said a forecaster at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

Clouds are also expected to appear with the chance of rain in some areas in the afternoon and evening.

Dusty

The Met office has also warned people of strong winds that may cause sandy and dusty conditions in open areas.

Weathermen say conditions would be slightly humid during the night and early morning. The sea is expected to be slightly moderate with two to three feet high waves offshore.

August is one of the hottest months of the year in the UAE and outdoor activities tend to drop to an all time low. A large segment of the population, comprising mainly of expatriates, also goes away on holidays to avoid the sizzling summer heat.

The maximum temperature yesterday was 45 degrees celsius in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. In Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Al Ain it was 44 degrees celcius, while in Ajman and Dubai it was 43 degrees celcius. The temperature in Fujairah was 34 degrees celsius.
