Dust haze hitting region will not affect the UAE, says forecaster

Dubai: A dust haze is drifting south from Qatar and it will not affect the UAE, the duty forecaster at Dubai Met Office said on Monday.
Baghdad and Kuwait were hit by dusty weather on Sunday because of low pressure winds, but even if the winds raise dust here it will be insignificant, said Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster. Motorists were warned of low visibility in these countries and people with breathing problems were advised to take precautions.
The temperature, meanwhile, is climbing in the UAE with Al Ain recording 47 degree Celsius on Monday and Sharjah touching 43 degree Celsius as of noon on Monday.
Jebel Ali recorded 48 degree Celsius on Sunday, but it dropped down to 44 degree Celsius on Monday. Dubai was a 'comfortable' 38 degree Celsius.
The sea breeze that blows inland from 11.30am to 1.30pm helps to bring down the temperature in the coastal areas.
The highest maximum recorded in Dubai in June was 47.3 degree Celsius.
Humidity is much lower at 40 per cent, making it comfortable. "Last year, the comfort index was at 9," said Gupta. The index is graded from 'comfortable' to 'high stress'. The higher the humidity, the higher the stress level.
It will be a dry spell over the next couple of days.
