Ras Al Khaimah: The police say they are working closely with other authorities to assist people who find themselves in difficult situations in remote areas as a result of the recent heavy rains.

Hundreds of people have flocked to these areas to see the wadis in flood, but have subsequently required assistance.

A senior police officer asked the public to stay out of potentially dangerous areas. He said access would be denied to areas near dams and streams that may be in danger of overflowing.

Scores of people have found themselves stuck in the mud after the rains and marine rescue and civil defence units have been placed on high alert.

A number of homes in low-lying areas have been damaged.
