ADEWA and UAEU join hands in two-day energy-law conference
Abu Dhabi: The 21st International Annual Conference on Energy between Law and Economics will take place on May 20-21 in the UAE University campus.
Under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Youth and Community Development and Chancellor of UAEU, the conference will tackle issues on the best known ways to ethically and efficiently use energy.
The Abu Dhabi Electricity and Water Authority (ADEWA) will take part in the event in a bid to raise awareness on environmentally friendly and alternative sources of energy to ensure a sustainable relationship between the laws that govern society and international regulations on energy.
Professor Jasem Ali Salem Al Shamsi, Dean of the College of Law at UAEU, said that an increase in global energy consumption has resulted in a concern within many countries. He revealed that the UAE is involved in 15 conventions pertaining to energy and the environment which is why this year’s conference tackles a topic that is relevant to modern-day society and the future of the UAE.
The two-day event will be divided into seven sessions, three of which will take place on the first day and the rest on the second day.
