Redha Hassan Salman, Director, Public Health and Safety Department, Dubai Municipality, on Wednesdy said a public awareness campaign called 'The Safe and Healthy Summer Campaign', which is being organised for the second consecutive year, will run till July 4.
"This is the second year that we are launching the campaign. The response that we generated last year was quite good. The level of compliance was about 85 per cent. The remaining 20 per cent are minor violations at work sites," Salman said.
The campaign is being carried out in Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, English and Arabic.
It is also extended to beaches, shopping malls and parks.
Engineer Salem Bin Mesmar, Assistant Director General of the Municipality for Health, Safety and Environment Monitoring said the campaign aims to create awareness among all sections of society, especially workers, beach goers and visitors to the open areas about heat exhaustion during summer.
"The campaign will also promote cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve the worker safety and health.
"It will also create awareness of the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations of the municipality with respect to the safety of workers," he said.
The activities of the campaign will include lectures, seminars, film shows, safety and supervisors training in labour camps, work sites, shopping malls, bus stations and other public places, in addition to the municipality offices.
