Dubai: Lack of information, which is a major hindrance to safeguarding labour welfare, will be resolved once the online attestation of Indian labour contracts comes into effect soon, the Indian Ambassador to UAE M.K. Lokesh said Monday.

The new web-based attestation of the labour contracts on Indian workers, designed by the Indian Embassy, will be implemented once the linking with the UAE Ministry of Labour is completed, he said.
The system links the Indian missions with the UAE Ministry of Labour and the Protector General of Emigrants in India.
A two-member delegation from India is expected to arrive next week to discuss the system.
“The Labour ministry had raised few technical issues, which are being sorted out,” he said.
Currently, the job contracts of Indian workers carrying the passports with ‘Emigration Clearance Required’ stamp [those who have not passed matriculation] have to be attested by the Indian Protector of Emigrants [an Indian authority] and the Indian Embassy.
Fake contracts
But unscrupulous agents make separate [fake] contracts for the above mentioned two authorities to get around the rules and regulations. However there was no system to detect the discrepancy between the contracts submitted with the authorities.
The new online attestation system is expected to stop the practice of making fake contracts.
