Dubai: The General Secretariat of UAE Municipalities is seeking to boost the national identity through a heartwarming campaign, 'I Love the Emirates' which started on Thursday and will continue until next May.

The campaign which includes the country's 37th National Day festivities is being held under the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

Goals

The campaign aims to boost the concept of national identity by making 2008 the Year of National Identity.

The campaign gives residents and expatriates the chance to express their affiliation to the country by taking part in community awareness projects, expressing their love for the emirates, said a media statement yesterday.

The campaign will include a number of projects in the field of energy conservation, environment protection and traffic law abidance.

The campaign aims to enhance the genuine values of Arab and Islamic culture, spread awareness in society, define social duties, keep up development, and most of all, spread love among the people living in the UAE.

There will be an automobile procession, due to set off during National Day celebrations, sponsored by car agencies throughout the UAE.

The procession will allow the participation of car owners as well.

The parade will set out from Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah and meet at a point in Dubai, then continue to Abu Dhabi, near Shaikh Khalifa's palace.
