Committee discusses labour crisis solutions
The meeting comes under the directions of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
Dubai: The Chief of Dubai Police chaired the second meeting of the higher committee of labour crisis management in the country.
The meeting comes under the directions of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, chaired the second meeting of the committee and ensured the importance of the committee's work to solve labour issues before they become a crisis and the importance of solving issues with the satisfaction of both parties, the labourers and company owners.
He reviewed the reason behind labour protests, which include delays in payment of salaries, demands for salary increase, extra hours and weekly and annual holidays, in addition to improving living conditions and providing accommodations which comply with international standards and providing healthcare.
Lieutenant General Dahi also reviewed the mechanisms of inspecting labour accommodations.
He agreed with the members of the committee on forming nine teams in all the emirates to receive labour complaints round the clock. The committee also agreed on activating the teams of labour inspectors.
Lieutenant General Dahi also discussed a number of suggestions to improve labour issues.
